The Technical Director reports to the Group CTO and is the authority in charge of the design, upgrade, maintenance, and long-term evolution of the networks based on Kacific satellites. Founded in 2013 by entrepreneurs from the satellite and telecoms industry, Kacific is the largest satellite broadband in South Asia and the Pacific countries, with an exponentially growing subscriber base and an innovative go-to-market strategy in poorly connected territories. Kacific is backed by private investors and large financial institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and Guarantco.
The technical Director supervises a small team of experts in IT, IT security, networking, Radio-frequency infrastructure based out of Singapore. He/she and his/her team support the Network Operating Centre, the Delivery team, the Presales team by providing expertise, monitoring tools, troubleshooting, technical training, budget, and network evolution planning. He/she will support and engage with the executive team on planning, budgeting, and executing major technical programs across the company’s five teleports and its IT infrastructure. He/she will be the key point of contact of the major network suppliers and will participate in contracting negotiations alongside the COO. On an ad-hoc, the technical Director will be involved in solutions design to support the sales and pre-sales with large accounts’ requirements.
The ideal Technical Director would be someone with 10 to 15 years of experience in networking and IP network design and supervision at a broadband or 4G/5G mobile operator. Besides, the ideal candidate would have had some experience at a satellite hub systems manufacturer and a satellite broadband network operator. The candidate should have an in-depth knowledge of, in this order of importance of (1) IP and networking for large consumer broadband networks (2) satellite hub systems; (3) satellite ground RF system; (4) satellite telecoms payloads.
Education
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Communications Systems Engineering; an MS is a plus
- Minimum of one undergraduate RF/microwave engineering course
- Business degree or executive degree on business matters a plus

- Familiarity with link budget theory and practice
- Hands-on experience deploying radio elements in a telecoms network (satellite, mobile, radiowave)

- Start-up mindset: must be comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and able to act rationally under pressure for technical emergencies
- Mastering one or several Asian languages (Bahasa, Tagalog, Mandarin, Japanese…) is a plus
